A Norwegian saxophonist – now there’s something you don’t hear often- active in jazz, classical, world music and other spheres, provided a peaceful evening for us this time.  Peak 20, holding 16 for most of the show

Quite a niche topic this week, and we peaked at 16, which was very encouraging. Keeping with the French theme, the preshow was all by Gong, that mostly-French group composed mostly of people that mostly hit things, and the postshow was all by the suvlime violinist Jean-Luc Ponty.   Not Picard.

Our annual look back at the musicians who left us in the previous year had a lot to cover, with many big names passing on in 2025.  We did our best to cover the most well-known ones while balancing the flow from one to another.   Seems to have worked..  23 listeners max and over 20…

A remastered show to start the New Year aa Ed is not available this week.  Some mildly avant-garde (whatever happened to post-garde?) jazz fusion from a master of his craft, Chick Corea and his band Return to Forever.  Peaked at 20 listeners, so not bad for a holiday season show.

A Christmas Story for 2025, Susan Cooper’s The Dark Is Rising, a personal favourite and one that I could fit music to.  Being a full novel, it went on for rather longer than our usual show, but kept within the normal postshow cutoff, so I thought we’d be OK.  Up to 22 listener connections, so…

A show featuring the music of film and TV composer Jerry Goldsmith, concetrating on his SF, Fantasy and horor film soundtracks,  assembled by Hugh who is very much into that sort of thing.    Very popular with up to 22 connections.  It’s good to know we can entertain you.

A band with a distinctive sound and an original choice of material from many genres, which perhaps did not help them to build a following.  Family were a band that made some good friends but could be hard to follow, while still producing some great music. A look at the career of mainly prog but also Christian rock star Neal Morse.  His career is so extensive that we could only scratch the surface, but we did our best to cover it well.

A remastered anniversary show taking the advertising businesses themes for the date, hence the slightly random combination.   It Worked well though, and gave us a good combination of tracks for a varied and interesting evening.

Some contemporary music for a change from Radio Free D’ni, jazz releases from the last five years.  Lots of new and up-and-coming names and some great music, which garnered the channel 25 listeners, a very rewarding number.   This was all despite the Myst Online server having some problems resulting in fewer people in the cavern…
