Playlists
130R Chicago part 1
A selection of tracks from the celebrated jazz-rock-pop band Chicago, going up to the eleventh studio album just before the death of Terry Kath. I’m a big fan of early Chicago, no surprise as I’m a jazz fan from way back, and I had a lot of input to this show – the second show is mostly Hugh. 23 listeners peak, a good number, for which we thank you.
257 Transports of Delight: Planes
Planes and the occasional spaceship featured in this show, which went together really well, and attracted up to 20 listeners, and some nice compliments from the cavern audience.
129R Will Big Bands Ever Come Back?
A great show with some tracks well off of the beaten track, showing that the jazz big band is still alive and well, albeit in a slightly different form. Up to 15 listener connections at maximum.
256 Nancy & Lee
Put together for us by Martin Lewis, this was a trip through the years that Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood collaborated both as a duet and with Nancy singing songs written and produced by Hazelwood. A good number in the audience, with a few new names and some returning explorers, up to 26 at one point.
128R Made in Germany
A nice set of longer-than-usual tracks, curated by Hugh for us, and attracting a very impressive crowd on the plaza and on the stream – very nice to see so many folks here.
255 Review of the Decade
Our tenth anniversary as a broadcasting team, Edison’s usual review of the year was extended to take in all of our previous shows. And a great selection of tracks was the result, appreciated by up to 24 listener connections and a good crowd in the cavern.
126R Rarities and What-ifs 9
A substantially remastered show that originally ran long and we managed to make into one that ran short. Oh well. Lots of listeners, very gratifying. I even sang… and nobody complained.
The postshow was extended to compensate for the short main show.
254 All At Sea
Sea-related tracks assembled by Hugh from his impressive collection, including movie soundtrack items, Classica, folk and all varieties of rock. Over 20 listener connections – a good number for us recently 🙂 Thanks folks, and join us again.
125R Be-Bop Deluxe
A trip through the recording career of Bill Nelson’s Be-Bop Deluxe, a Yorkshire band from the Seventies, but with music that has lasted very well. Malaclyps was away from home so I was reduced to flying solo – something I quite like now and again.
253 Mike Stern
A great show featuring jazz fusion guitrist Mike Stern, assembled by Hugh drew a decent crowd despite coinciding with Mysteriium and the UEFA cup final in which England were playing. To the rest of you, you missed a great show, guys 🙂
