230 Santana 1969-76

The first in what is likely to be three shows looking at guitarist Carlos Santana, in this show from his beginnings fronting a latin/jazz/rock group to the beginnings of his jazz phase.  Some really memorable tracks, including two from the Woodstock set that predated their first album release by a couple of weeks or so.

100R Number One Hits

A Remastered version of our 100th show, which we decided would be out of character, in that we usually explore the less well known tracks.   Well attended too, especially for a summer holiday show.

229 Summer Dance Set 2

Reviving an idea from a few years ago, a set of dance tracks for simple entertainment.  Spiced up with a theme, which this time was Funk, and we had a set of six funk tracks to represent that.  Otherwise, a varied combination of music, but all very much danceable stuff.    Peak listeners 22, maintained 18 or more for nearly the whole show, and a lot of dancing in the City 🙂

026R Rarities and What-ifs 4

An early show, remastered at last, with Malaclypse unavailable to engineer or comment so you were subject to my poor German accent.  Twenty listeners max, which is an excellent number for a holiday season show.

Preshow and most of the postshow taken from the R section of my stash…

228 The Mamas and The Papas

A show reminding us of just how good those four-part harmonies were back then, as well as giving us some background on what the various group members did after they broke up.

Preshow included their first recorded work, as backing group for Barry McGuire, and the p;ostshow was taken from their live set from the Monterey Pop Festival.

097R Allan Holdsworth part 2

Flying solo for once, as Mal was in transit, there were up to sixteen listeners, not bad for the start of the holiday season.  One of our more esoteric shows too.

As promised, here is a link to a YouTube copy of the original 1980’s SynthAxe demo tape

227 Blue Note Records

A first for us, a show dedicated to works from a single record label, in this case the iconic Blue Note label famous for it’s advocacy of Hard Bop in the Seventies, and still going strong.

We have tracks from the classic period and some examples of the new artists on Blue Note today.

226 Saga

A prolific Canadian rock band, mostly progressive, we chose to give you the Chapters of their science fiction saga, originally issued, out of order, over their albums from 1978 to 2003.  In the natural break between the first and second books (so to speak) we had four of their concert favourites.

There’s lots more of their work, so let us know if you want us to cover it.

094R Todd Rundgren

The first of Hugh’s shows that we have remastered, and he was with us on the stream.  Unfortunately, the stream was afflicted with some strange voice distortions on our announcements, but the music was clear, so we carried on while searching for a solution.  Some testing to be done.

Show featured Todd Rundgren solo and with his band Utopia.  Preshow was stuff produced by Todd ans postshow was covers of Rundgren songs.
