106 Pink Floyd, part 4
The final part of the Pink Floyd history, and a great audience for the culmination of Malaclypse’s labour of love. We had some solo work from the band members in the pre and postshow.

105 The Who, part 2
A slightly smaller audience than usual, on Armistice Day, which may have been one reason for it. We covered the two albums that The Who produced after Keith Moons death, and the recent comeback album. But most of the show was about solo work from the three, dominated, inevitably, by Pete Townshend.
A couple of late additions to the postshow were the Stephen Stills/Manassas version, the original version of How Far, to contrast it with the Roger Daltrey cover we had in the show, and a gratuitous play of Gordon Lightfoot’s Endless Wire right at the end of the postshow.

104 The Who, part 1
Our first show dedicated to The Who, an iconic English band that we have not featured before – I can’t think why.
We focussed on the Keith Moon years, when the founding members of the group were all together. There is so much good music from this period of the group’s life that choosing a 2 hour set was pretty difficult. I chose to emphasise the role that Lifehouse, the unrealised followup to Tommy, played in the success of the group, and played tracks released on later albums and singles in the order they would have appeared. Researching the Lifehouse concept and the plot that was to be played out brought new light, for me, on the lyrics in the many ex-Lifehouse songs that were to feature so brilliantly in later albums and singles.

For this show, Hugh drew on his extensive knowledge and stash of Cream recordings and produced a wonderful show bringing us the best of the group and its history.
The preshow consisted of a couple of post-Cream groups, Blind Faith and BBM – Bruce Baker Moore, with Gary Moore filling the guitar shoes.

102 Bill Bruford part 2
Part 2 of the Bruford show saw us concentrating on his later and more jazzy, not to say experimental, work. That was seasoned with several tracks from he earlier work as a guest musician or session man on albums lead by other people. Something for everyone.

Myst 25th Anniversary: Myst Memories
To start off the weekend of Myst’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, I did a show on my own, as neither Mal nor Ed was able to host. As I was the first one to start, I was able to fit in a long-ish preshow too 🙂
The Myst memories included the start of my involvement with computer gaming, which was Adventure, later known as Colossal Cave, on a Data General Nova. Several tracks were also from the year of Myst’s first release, 1993.

101 Bill Bruford part 1
A very satisfying show, with more than 20 listeners all the way through, and a maximum of 27. A lot of old favourites in the set list, which no doubt helped. Hugh was able to join us on the stream too.
Preshow and postshow tracks were the ones that didn’t quite make the show cut, again, and all had Bruford on drums.

Show 100: Centenary open mic show: No.1 hits
100 shows 😮
We never thought we’d get this far, but to be fair we don’t think too much ahead, the next few shows, perhaps regular events such as cavern anniversaries, and more recently the new year review of artists we’ve said goodbye to over the previous year. Yet, here we are, our first century completed, and still not short of ideas.
Our theme was No.1 hits, but that was to a certain extent a reason to have familiar songs on the show so we could leave the mic open. Which we did, and you were able to hear all of the thrashing around that goes on behind the scenes. Including my late arrival, forced on me by an unexpected mandatory update to the Teamspeak client. Which failed, so it was -reinstall from scratch- time.
All of the tracks had been No.1 somewhere, at some time, including the pre and postshow tracks. It was Hugh’a birthday, so he had prior engagements, and could not join us. Selections came from four of us (Mal, Ed, Hugh and I) and we had an audience of more than 30 listeners, something we have not managed for some time. Do come again 🙂
