93 Frank Zappa
An excellent set of tracks and someone we’ve never covered before. And despite it being the Memorial Day weekend in the US (oh, why can’t se coordinate public holidays better), we had 22 listeners for most of the show.
Pre and post-show music were by artists that Zappa admired, a category with very few entries.

92 Steely Dan – Part 1 of 2.
We had failed to notice that it was Mother’s Day in the US and so our audience was less than expected. Undaunted, a comprehensive show was presented covering Steely Dan from first steps to greatest triumph, the album Aja.
Preshow was mainly early demos, with the addition of a track from Jay and the Americans on which Donald Fagen and Walter Becker were in the group, and Kid Charlemagne, a taster for what’s to come, with a superb lead guitar track from Larry Carlton.
Postshow contained fallers, tracks from the albums that didn’t quite make it to the show (only for lack of time, or I’d have put them all in), plus Larry Carlton’s room 335, which was written after being beaten to the solo spot in Peg by Jay Graydon, and uses the same chords. A great show.

91 Earth Day 2018
Our Earth day show was appreciated by all those attending, which included some new faces. I managed to write some rather convoluted prose, but Ed, Mal and Root Beer coped admirably. Audience numbers peaked at 24, a welcome recovery from the spring break lows.
Since we started with Messages From Earth, from the Babylon 5 soundtrack, we decided to finish with something else in the SF genre, and I found the extended version of the Firefly theme to go out with. All the other pre and postshow tracks were from the Earth Day playlist.

89 Cat Stevens
Broadcast on April 1st, which also happened to be Easter Sunday, our audience was smaller than usual, which we should have expected if we’d noticed the significance of the date in time.
Preshow contained two Pentangle tracks, one long one to start with so that people had plenty of opportunity to get the channel connected.
The postshow started with a live version of Peace Train, a song which he continues to sing to this day, and one of his most well known.
As promised, I’ve linked to a fansite page with the translation of the Latin lyrics of O Caritas, and include the Greek text, a translation and a transliteration for the Greek verse of Rubylove. Though Cat Stevens has Greek ancestry, he is a Londoner born and bred and lead a cosmopolitan life, He no doubt picked up some Greek from his father, and may have attended Greek Orthodox church with him.
Latin lyrics and translation by Michael R Valenzuela for O Caritas here, along with some notes
Rubylove lyrics in Greek, with a transliteration for those who don’t read Greek text (like me) and an English translation
Ruby γλυκιά
Έλα ξανά,
Έλα ξανά κοντά μου
Έλα πρωί, με την αυγή
Χρυσή σαν ηλιαχτίδα
Ruby μου μικρή
Ruby glikya
Ela xana,
Ela xana konta mou
Ela proi, me tin avgy
Xrisi san iliaktida
Ruby mou mikri
Sweet Ruby
Come by once more
Come once more close to me
Come by at dawn
Golden like a ray of sun
My little Ruby

88 Turn It Up 2 – Hook, Line and Sinker
A second dip into our stash of songs with compelling hooks, memorable music and something that makes you want to Turn It Up.
The show went down well, with an audience of 20 or so. Combining two different presenter’s choices of compelling tracks proved popular once again, and also gave a wide spread of music.
The stash mined for the preshow was Mal’s this time, some choices from compilation albums.

87 Boys…
Another very satisfying show, with 15 listeners online during the preshow, rising to a maximum of 29. Preshow starts at M and moves on to P in my stash, and the postshow included alternative takes and tracks referred to in the main show.
The reason I mentioned that no frogs were harmed by the inclusion of Axel F, despite severe temptation was, as you may already know, due to the “Crazy Frog” adaption, a very annoying thing. Do not click on the link below.

86 Valentine’s Day
A fine romantic evening’s entertainment was shared with up to 29 listeners at one point.
Preshow from my stash again, some Little Feat, Swarbrick/Carthy, The Melrose Quartet with a fine piece of anti-war sentiment, composed by Carthy, and after that some Michael Chapman, with added Mick Ronson and Rick Kemp.
The show walked the listener through an affair, from first meeting to a Valentine, a slow dance, and a look at the future.
Postshow we had some of the tracks that just didn’t quite make the cut, from Bryan Ferry’s Slave To Love (another meet-up and falling in love song), Under The Boardwalk and Wouldn’t It Be Nice (getting to know each other) and some steamy stuff, Body Talk and Feel Like Makin’ Love. Finally, Paxton’s Outward Bound sees the couple heading off on a life’s voyage.

85 MOULa 8th Anniversary
For the 8th anniversary, we put together a program including soundtrack music from Uru and other Cyan games, some of the cavern’s favourite musicians, and from explorers who are also musicians. I have included links to the explorers band’s websites where known. We had record-breaking audience figures, due entirely to the assiduous advertising of the anniversary event by Minasunda, and also due to us following the opening ceremony, explorer memorial and NULP dance troupe events. We held on to the audience you gave us, guys, so I’m happy with that.

The preshow was full of L, namely, Led Zep, Level 42 and Lindisfarne.
The postshow had tracks that we wanted to include in the “Lost in 2017” show, but could not fit in.
