Sunday 20th of August, Radio Free D’ni will celebrate its 3rd anniversary, with a look back at what we did over the last year. As usual, the show will be prepared by EdisonRex, and we will all be there to pitch in and answer questions if necessary.

On the 6th, at the usual time, we will present a second set of humour in Rock. EdisonRex is not currently available to do the Voodoo bits for us, so Alan will be handling the Microphone all by himself, but Malaclypse and Root Beer will be in the plaza for moral support and to possibly answer questions.

As announced earlier, on Sunday we will present the history of CCR, from their beginning to the band’s untimely end. In the pre- and post-show bits there will be some rare live takes by the band, and solo material by John Fogerty. One of the shortest careers of any major Rock band, during their five years of existence, CCR have helped create the genre of modern Hard Rock, as well as their very own style, which was later titled Swamp Rock and given its epitaph by Southern Rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd with their song “Swamp Music,” commemorating the disbanding of CCR a year earlier. Did you ever wonder how such a successful band could go down the drain so quickly? Listen in and you’ll find out 🙂

This Sunday it is all about George Martin, legendary producer and studio boss, who died in 2016. One of the most successful producers ever, with #1 hits through three consecutive decades (one of only three producers to have managed that), he had a long career, famously producing The Beatles in the 1960s, among many others.

On May 14th, we will present Unexpected Instrumentals, being a selection of instrumental pieces by bands which are not renowned for doing them, or which are so different from what the bands are known for that it really is quite unexpected. Might be a few surprises in there 🙂

Our theme for the next show (Sunday 30th April) will be Songs That Get Under Your Skin.  A personal choice from each of us here on Radio Free D’ni of songs that we find have affected us deeply, and in unexpected ways.

For my part, there could be something from Rush, The Albion Band, Fairport Convention, Sade, Amazing Blondel, John D Loudermilk and Alex Glasgow.  Come along and hear the tracks that get to us…

This time, we will have a look at the career of the late violinist extraordinaire Dave Swarbrick, best known for his work with Fairport Convention, but also quite active outside that group.

This Sunday we will present our second round of original songs and cover versions thereof which are either unusal, have a bit of a story to them, or both. We did receive some criticism about our last show on this theme, but also enough positive feedback that we think it’s a viable concept, especially since this is not just original and almost identical cover, but rather the more diverse bits.

Because of the time difference caused by North America switching to Daylight Saving Time earlier than most of the rest of the world, this show will air from 1400 KI time, which will be 2000 UK and 2100 MET, so for our European listeners, it will be the usual time and an hour later than usual to our North American listeners.
