Our theme for the next show (Sunday 30th April) will be Songs That Get Under Your Skin.  A personal choice from each of us here on Radio Free D’ni of songs that we find have affected us deeply, and in unexpected ways.

For my part, there could be something from Rush, The Albion Band, Fairport Convention, Sade, Amazing Blondel, John D Loudermilk and Alex Glasgow.  Come along and hear the tracks that get to us…

This time, we will have a look at the career of the late violinist extraordinaire Dave Swarbrick, best known for his work with Fairport Convention, but also quite active outside that group.

This Sunday we will present our second round of original songs and cover versions thereof which are either unusal, have a bit of a story to them, or both. We did receive some criticism about our last show on this theme, but also enough positive feedback that we think it’s a viable concept, especially since this is not just original and almost identical cover, but rather the more diverse bits.

Because of the time difference caused by North America switching to Daylight Saving Time earlier than most of the rest of the world, this show will air from 1400 KI time, which will be 2000 UK and 2100 MET, so for our European listeners, it will be the usual time and an hour later than usual to our North American listeners.

On March 5th, we will present a selection of tracks from albums that have no filler on them. Those albums are both rarer, and more frequent than might be expected: some of the “usual suspects” not having produced a single such album, whereas there are quite a few largely unknown artists who have almost made a hobby out of making them, despite never breaking into the upper end of the charts.

As per request of a couple of shows ago, Sunday’s show will be featuring various one-hit wonders, complete with the usual background info on them. And possibly a few surprises in there, though we did try not to include too many novelty songs, which alsmost by definition end up making their artists one-hit wonders, if they make it into the charts at all.

Coming on Radio Free D’ni: Not your average Christmas music show.

There may be a steamroller, from Mannheim, no less. A little Wassail, something from Canada, France and Yorkshire. Something Glorious from Vivaldi. And a blythesome turkey. How can you miss that?

Never a dull moment. All rights reserved, may contain nuts. Thinking about it, almost certain to contain nuts. But very entertaining ones…

This Sunday, November 27th, the show theme will be Difficult Times – this is entirely due to an internet gif that a friend of mine posted.

Yes, there will be instances of each of the above.  As you might expect, some of them are a bit prog-ish, but there’s also a good helping of hard rock, jazz, and maybe some heavy metal, if I can get it assembled.  The sheets of armour are OK, but all the bolts seem to have a left-hand thread.

On November 13th, our next show will be along the lines of cover versions and their respective originals, with a focus on unusual or unexpected combinations or unexpected originals–i.e., cases where the actual original version has been mostly forgotten due to later cover versions being far more popular, or where the band doing the cover version would not usually have been expected to do so… or where the circumstances surrounding both (or more) versions are somewhat weird. And that is without even taking into consideration really weird cover versions of otherwise “straight” originals, some of which may also pop up in there.
