Southern Rock!
This week, we will finally present our overview of that hard-to-define genre, Southern Rock, a show inspired by audience feedback. This cannot be a comprehensive history of the whole thing, but we will present a few seminal bands, and a few lesser-known ones in the hope to capture the spirit of Southern Rock, which has a lot to do with having a good time.

028R Passport Remastered
A very fine show, only slightly modified from the original 2015 broadcast in content, but with substatially updated notes by our very own Malaclypse. Who had contacted Klaus Doldinger before the show, asking for his thoughts on the content and the notes. Doldinger’s reply was an approval, and a wish to join us on the commentary channel, but he could not as he was already commited to playing live at that time. A strong incentive for us to put together a part 2 show, for which there is a huge amount of content that we could not include in this one.

160 Peter Gabriel
This proved to be a very popular show with a big attendance in the cavern, and an audience count of only one less than our best ever. Of course, we did think that the show might be popular with Uru players because of the Peter Gabriel link to the game. The collaboration between Hugh and his friends and myself produced an excellent playlist eliciting much approving comment all round. And dancing on the plaza.

Postshow
The postshow included the other four versions of Burn You Up, Burn You Down that I know of. The two from the Uru game soundtrack were extracted from the game DVD itself, and are noticeably different from all the others, with the Zandi radio loop being monophonic as well, for obvious reasons. Since these are all from the Real World Recording Week sessions, I think the bassists will be Wendy Melvoin/Jah Wobble in all cases and not Tony Levin.

Peter Gabriel
It has been long overdue, but finally, this weekend, we will present the music of Peter Gabriel, famous for his early work with Genesis, his later solo work, and of course for contributing the song “Burn You Up, Burn You Down” to Zandi’s radio in the Arizona desert.

029R Tangerine Dream Remastered
An excellent and well-attended show, and something different with eighties Tangerine Dream helping everyone to relax in these trying times. The show was first broadcast in 2015, and the content was provided by our friend Janeerah. The notes were revised and updated to take account of the passage of time. The preshow was Jan’s selection of other favourite electronic/ambient artists.

159 James Taylor
A very popular show, with good audience numbers both in the cavern and in the wider world. An excellent playlist and notes contributed by Dave Gray gave us a show that none of the team could have done better, or, in my case, at all. Preshow was “James Taylor and…” featuring duets and collaborations, and the postshow was “James Taylor plays…” consisting of cover versions.
