122 John Wetton part 2
The second part of the John Wetton career summary, and the last of the shows about the four brilliant musicians who formed the band UK. The preshow let me indulge my passion for the bands he was in both before and after his membership, which is always nice. Just over 20 folks in the audience, which was a welcome development, we were beginning to wonder if we’d lost our touch.

121 Scott Walker part 2
We were promised some wierdness from Scott Walker by Hugh in this second of two shows, and it was quite revealing just how strange and experimental some of his later work became. A smaller audience than usual came to listen, with very few in the cavern, but we did manage to reach 19 listeners.

120. John Wetton, part 1
I enjoyed putting this show and part 2 together. Unfortunately, our audience in cavern was smaller than usual, possibly because (as I found out on the day) it was Memorial Day in the US. Never mind, a peak of 12 in the audience enjoyed some of the really good highlights of Mr. Wetton’s earlier career. Preshow was bands Wetton had played in, but before he was in them – apart from one, see if you can find it.

Show 120: John Wetton
On Sunday 26th May we will broadcast a show looking at the early career of John Wetton, the fourth and last founding member of UK that I have concentrated on. This will be part one of two, and will look at his work with Mogul Thrash, Family, King Crimson, Roxy Music and UK and all stops in between. Join us in the cavern or just listen using the links above, from 12:30 KI.
119 Weather Report
A very fine set of tracks following the recording career of jazz fusion pioneers Westher Report, assembled by Hugh.
It was unfortunate that the broadcast date turned out to be Mother’s Day for most of our usual audience (not in the UK, but everywhere else it seems) and we had a lower turnout than usual. Still a maximum of 15 with 12 for most of the show.

118 Eddie Jobson
Out of the four members of UK, all of whom I’ve followed more or less well, Eddie Jobson, keyboard and violin maestro and songwriter, is the one I had least information about. So little, in fact, that the preshow was filled from my general stash rather than leftover tracks after assembling the show itself. We’re up to R in the stash now, after featuring Poco, Queen and Rhiannon Giddens on this show.
The main show held examples from the many works and styles of Jobson, from Curved Air to UKZ, via some electronic New Age, synthpop, Frank Zappa and Roxy Music. Something for everyone.

Something a little different this week, put together by Hugh from his extensive stash of one of his favourite artists. Despite losing some of our European audience to Easter holidays, we peaked at 22. A second Scott Walker show will be coming soon.
