    A second show of TV themes (mostly) because I found I’d missed one really important one out (the BBC Film night one, from Billy Taylor).

    I have added links to sites for each of the shows, and also for the lyrics to the two songs sung in Geordie which confounded the audience a little.  Sorry about that – it would be my native accent if I retained one.

    A peak of 24 listeners – very pleasing.

    Welcome to the homepage of Radio Free D’ni. You will find here both our current announcements and our past playlists. Our links to the music stream are at the top, just above this post. And there’s a stream player right here (mind you, it’ll only play anything when the stream is on).

    Generally speaking, we present a new show every other week, at 1300 KI time, with remastered versions of our shows from five years ago in the intermediate weeks. We have pre-show music usually starting 30 minutes earlier (so getting on the stream at 12:30 KI time might be a good idea), and also a good bit of music after the show proper.

    13:00 KI is 8 pm in the UK, 9 pm in CET. KI time is Mountain Time in the US, and it follows DST… I can only assume that when Victor Laxman got the KI’s working again he synch’d them to surface time in New Mexico…

    A selection from the extensive discography of master of the keyboard and prog rock legend Keith Emerson. whose death was announced a few days earlier. He was a gifted player, one of the most technically accomplished keyboard players in rock.  There were more tracks than could fit into a 2 hour show, but after asking on the plaza, the remaining tracks were played by AlanDJ on his own.

  • 37 Vangelis

    Inspiration failed to descend for me, and our friend Janeerah helped out with a set of electronic music featuring Vangelis. His full name is Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou, and he first become known in Europe as part of an all-Greek prog rock band Aphrodite’s Child (which had Demis Roussos on vocals) before going solo around 1973.

    Vangelis plays almost all the instruments on his albums and he also composes all the tracks, despite being unable to read or write music.  He composes on the keyboard, recording to a multi-track tape machine, and recording the ideas as they come to him, using many different keyboards for each idea.

    Edison was once again away from his mixing desk and AlanDJ broadcast the show
